What is a plug-in?

A plug-in is a program extension that adds additional image effects and creative abilities to your workflow. Plug-ins integrate into your image editing software and used from within your program. The use of plug-ins enhance and maximize the power of Photoshop (or other program). Most plug-ins are specialized and perform unique tasks that typically are impossible or difficult to do with Photoshop alone. Using plug-ins makes difficult or time consuming tasks quick, easy and more efficient.

Because Topaz programs are plug-ins, you will need a compatible host program to run them. Please see our compatibility requirements here.
