Introducing Detail in Studio

Topaz Detail has been upgraded to “Detail in Studio” and has officially moved into Topaz Studio! Moving Detail into Topaz Studio will enable us to focus on the overall mission of improving the entire Topaz Labs workflow and experience from start to finish.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_separator][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/rYztMpDLK1Y”][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_separator][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1499750369090{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”111150″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]

Now inside Topaz Studio

Topaz Detail has been broken into the “Precision Detail” and “Channel Mixer” adjustments. Going forward, you will access Detail from the Topaz Studio application. Detail can now be accessed without a paid host editor (such as Photoshop and Lightroom), AND you can access Detail directly from the Workflow Panel in Topaz Studio.  With this new name, we begin the journey to a more integrated, complete, and user-focused product.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”111216″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1507139035616{padding-top: 20px !important;}”]

Detail Adjustment In Studio

The Detail Plugin consists of the “Precision Detail” and “Channel Mixer” Adjustments. We have added Detail to several different areas inside Topaz Studio to make it more accessible to you. You can access the Traditional Detail workflow through the workflow panel on the left under “Specialty”. Or access either of the new adjustments from the adjustment drop-down menu, and also, from the blue adjustment shortcut button on the workspace to the right.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”111227″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1499750369090{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Faster Speed

The Upgrade from Detail to Detail in Studio comes with some awesome new performance and processing upgrades, a new interface, as well as new features. Depending on your hardware configuration, Detail in Studio now performs as much as 100x faster.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”111318″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]

Large Detail

With the latest update to Detail in Studio, we were able to improve the ability to target large structures in any image more accurately. Before, Detail 3.2.0 was targeting, what were considered “large details” with a fixed pixel size and not relating this “large detail” to the overall size of the image. Now, we are able to target the larger detail structure porportional to the overall image size, which will allow for more control over the your targeted detail structure to better enhance the overall style of your image.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”113048″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]

Channel Mixer

One of the new controls introduced in Detail in Studio is the Channel Mixer found under the adjustment menu. The Channel Mixer is an expanded control over RGB(Red, Green, Blue color channels) be able to adjust the brightness by conbining the contribution of RGB in an image.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1505754099761{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”111360″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1499750369090{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_separator][vc_empty_space height=”32″][vc_column_text]

  1. If I already have the detail plugin , do I still need to purchase the detail adjustment pack for $29,99 ?

    1. Joseph,
Nope if you own the plugin this upgrade if free for you. Follow the steps here to get it: https://topazlabs.com/2017/09/updating-to-detail-in-studio/

      1. So you are not releasing this as a plugin for photoshop? I don’t like where this is going.
All companies are trying to launch their own all in one editor. this sucks 😡

        Best,
        Mark

        1. It still works as a plugin through Photoshop it Launches through the Studio framework, It’s in the article above under “Plugin Access”

  2. Being a longtime customer of Topaz, I have the original Detail plugin as part of the full bundle which I bought a long time ago. In addition, I’ve downloaded Studio and purchased the Pro Pack of adjustments. I’d like to get Detail in studio. Being as that I purchased the original Detail and the Studio Pro Package, do I get Detail in Studio as a free update as was always the case with the original plugins?

    Thanks.

  3. Where is the tutorial for using precise detail in Studio? thanks

  4. Hi, I purchased the Adjust -> Topaz Photoshop Bundle upgrade about 6 years ago.. Does that extend to upgrade to the current products?
(Simplify, DeNoise, Detail, Clean, DeJPEG, ReMask, InFocus)
    Thanks!

    1. Hey Vallerie,
Free upgrades only apply to the products you received in the bundle you purchased, it doesn’t include other products that weren’t included in that bundle. However you do get free upgrades for life to the products that you do own through the bundle and the “in Studio” versions would be included and covered under that upgrade policy

  5. What to do? I have Detail in Studio installed and showing in the left column under Specialty, but it does not appear in the Adjustments drop-down menu under dehaze as shown above and it does not appear in the Adjustments drop down at the right column, again as shown above.

    1. The detail in Studio upgrade consists of 2 Adjustments “Precision Detail” and “Channel Mixer” When you click on any of the effects you’ll see these two adjustments applied. This is talked about in the “Detail Adjustment in Studio” section above

  6. As a very long time user of Topaz Labs my experience in the update process has been easy. I installed Topaz Studio and set up an account. In Studio, under menu | Help I clicked on Validate Plug-ins. They all came in ok. Tonight, when I opened Studio it suggested that I install the update to Studio. That update set up Detail. It has been easy for me, hope so for you too.

  7. I like the new version of Detail (& clarity), but I don’t fid them as easy to use because the presets are no longer grouped in categories. As a result it can take some time to scroll down – Particularly as sometimes the thumbnails take some time to appear, and if you take the option to show all they are too small for those of us whose eyesight is not what it was! It would be much better to have the presets in categories as in the “old” versions, so that when you clicked on a category there were a smaller number of presets to chose at any one time, with larger thumbnails.

    1. Andrew,
If you’re not seeing the category dropdown at the top of the effect list, you’re probably not using the latest version, we have this fixed, please run the “Check for Updates” item in the help menu of Topaz Studio.

  8. Hi Topaz,
I used Topaz plugins (particular Detail) through Corel Paintshop Pro 2018 ; do you have a version of new Detail for that ?

    Thanks,
    Christian.

    1. Hello Christian,
The current version of Studio is only supported through Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom as a plugin, we’re working on compatibility with other plugins though.

  9. Hi
Similar to Valleries question above, I bought a similar bundle in the UK some years ago inc adjust, denoise etc which I have been happily running in Windows. I am happy with them as they are but I now what to run them on an I Mac With El Capitan. Do I need an upgrade to be able to do this? If so is this available free?

    Thanks

    Paul

    1. Hey Paul,
Per the FAQ: this is an upgrade to a newer version of Detail that’s only available through Topaz Studio. You can still happily use the Detail 3 plugin, but the updates we made are not possible inside of that old engine. If you’d prefer not to use Studio or forgo the upgrade you may continue to use Detail 3, however, Detail 3 won’t be updated further. All future updates to Detail will be made to Detail in Studio.
If you’d like to get the latest version of Detail 3 you can do that from the previous installers link on this page: https://www.topazlabs.com/downloads

  10. Which lightroom and photoshop? My computer doesn’t have the minimum requirements for Topaz Studio so will this plugin work with my photoshop CS5, 64 bit? Can I try it to see?

    1. Beverly,
You can always try it and see however if your machine doesn’t meet the requirements for Studio it won’t be supported as a plugin either (as it still opens and invokes studio). You can see the system requirements here: https://help.topazlabs.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004759908-Minimum-Requirements-and-Recommended-Hardware

  11. Is detail available as a plugin only for LR & PS? I don’t need Studio at this time.

    1. Per the FAQ
No, this is an upgrade to a newer version of Detail that’s only available through Topaz Studio. 12. Hi Heath,
I like what I read about Topaz Detail but I’m not sure if it can work as a standalone program. If not, how do I use it … I’m currently using Lightroom 5.7 and I don’t have Topaz Studio.
    Regards, Tony

    1. Hey Tony,
this is an upgrade to a newer version of Detail that’s only available through Topaz Studio, so you’ll need to download Studio. 13. What is the difference between Topaz clarity and Topaz detail?

    1. Topaz Detail is built to enhance image structure and sharpness, it’s adjustment sliders are based on size. Topaz Clarity is built on enhancing image contrast and tonality, and it’s sliders are based on variations in contrast. (For example, micro contrast would effect variations between white and light grey image sections)

  14. I would like to get Detail to use in Photoshop. My Photoshop computer is not connected to the internet as a security feature. Can I get Detail as a Photoshop plugin without getting Studio (which I assume is cloud based)?

    1. George, our installers are cloud based and require an internet connection to download and install. Without an internet connection, they cannot be installed.
